On occasion of the EFORT Meeting in Lisbon in June 2022, ARTOF and ESPA conjointly organized an instructional course on ‚Pelvic and Acetabular Fractures in Polytrauma‘. The ARTOF faculty, from Great Britain, Canada and Germany, focused on decision making in polytrauma, bleeding control in pelvic trauma, and the impact of modern management principles in the outcome following unstable pelvic fractures.

On Saturday, the 18th of September 2021, ARTOF hosted an instructional course on occasion of the 41st SICOT Meeting in Budapest, Hungary. Due to the Covid pandemic the meeting was held in hybrid format and ARTOF was asked to host the session virtually. We highlighted basics as well as advanced tips and tricks around „Management of Fracture related infections (FRI)“. The renowned ARTOF faculty was from Canada, Great Britain, Switzerland and Germany.

Due to the COVID pandemic, the EFORT Congress was in hybrid format. ARTOF was invited to host an online instructional course, engaging the delegates in a virtual case discussion. The instructional course highlighted current management strategies of open fractures. Our selected faculty (ZA – Nando Ferreira, GB – Sam Molyneux, GER – Jochen Pressmar, GER – Marc Hanschen) presented state of the art treatment protocols in their talks and was engaged in a lively online discussion with the audience.

On occasion of the 40^th SICOT Orthopedic World Congress, ARTOF will host a panel discussion in Muscat, Oman. The session will cover the topic Digitalization in Trauma and Orthopedics. We will analyze the current situation of digitalization in the field and discuss the potential and obstacles.

The Munich Shoulder Fracture Course 2019 (MSF 2019) took place end of April in Munich, the venue for the lectures was the University Hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar, the wet lab session took place at the Department of Anatomy in Munich. Repeatedly, ARTOF was patron of this course format. The course was fully booked and lively discussions took place during the symposia and the wet lab sessions. On Friday, the 12th of October 2018, ARTOF hosted a panel discussion on occasion of the 39th SICOT Meeting in Montreal, Canada. We highlighted basics as well as advanced tips and tricks around ‘Innovations in the treatment of proximal tibia fractures’. The renowned ARTOF faculty was from Canada, India, USA and Germany. A highlight was the lecture by Prof. Schatzker.

The Munich Bone Defect and Infection Meeting celebrated its debut with more than 30 participants. The international meeting took place at the University Hospital ‘Klinikum rechts der Isar’ in Munich, organized by the Department of Trauma Surgery. ARTOF was proud academic partner of this event and provided patronage. The international faculty from Great Britain, Sweden and Germany shared the latest research findings in the complex field of Bone Infection and Defect Management. ARTOF Instructional Course

ARTOF decided to highlight fatique fractures on occasion of the specialty session at EFORT 2018 in Barcelona. Although fatique fractures have a strong impact on morbidity and mortality, management algorithms are mostly missing so far. During our session, ARTOF highlighted the most recent literature concerning diagnostics and management strategies of fatique fractures around the pelvis. The faculty presented own cases and encouraged a lively discussion with the delegates.

On Friday, the 1st of December 2017, ARTOF hosted an instructional course on occasion of the 38th SICOT Meeting in Cape Town, South Africa. We highlighted basics as well as advanced tips and tricks around „External Fixation in damage control and beyond“. The renowned ARTOF faculty was from Canada, India, Great Britain, South Africa and Germany. SICOT Delegates from all over the globe enjoyed state of the art lectures and hands on training in the session. The instructional workshop was kindly supported by Orthofix, allowing hands on training for the participants in the session. The session format was well received and SICOT Delegates stayed long after the session to seek tips and tricks for their everyday practice.

On occasion of the EFORT Congress 2017 in Vienna, ARTOF was pleased to organize an instructional workshop highlighting updates and innovations in fracture treatment around the knee. Our selected faculty presented state of the art treatment protocols in their talks and was engaged in a lively discussion with the audience. All seats were taken, participants had to follow the session standing in the aisle. The Round Table Discussion highlighting Worst Case Scenarios was well received by the audience!

Die Versorgung von Frakturen im Bereich des Schultergürtels spielt nicht nur beim betagten Patienten mit stetig steigendem funktionellen Anspruch, sondern auch beim jungen Patienten – mitbedingt durch die Entwicklung neuer Trendsportarten – eine zunehmend wichtige Rolle in der Patientenversorgung.

Daher freuen wir uns, zum dritten Mal den „Munich Shoulder Fracture“ Kurs in München veranstalten zu dürfen. Dieser Kurs wird unter der wissenschaftlichen Leitung von PD Dr. Chlodwig Kirchhoff, Gesch.ftsführender Oberarzt und Sektionsleiter Schulterund Ellenbogentraumatologie der Klinik und Poliklinik für Unfallchirurgie am Klinikum rechts der Isar, Prof. Dr. Peter Biberthaler, Direktor der Klinik und Poliklinik für Unfallchirurgie am Klinikum rechts der Isar und Herrn Prof. Dr. Andreas Imhoff, Vorstand der Abteilung und Poliklinik für Sport orthopädie am Klinikum rechts der Isar, stattfinden.

Auch in 2017 steht unser Kursformat wieder unter dem Patronat der Association for the Rationale Treatment of Fractures (ARTOF) und der Deutschen Vereinigung für Schulter- und Ellenbogenchirurgie (DVSE).

Der Fokus des Kurses soll insbesondere auf der Versorgung von Frakturen rund um den Schultergürtel, d.h. proximaler Humerus, Klavikula und Skapula, liegen. Hierfür konnte wieder eine äußerst renommierte deutschsprachige Faculty gewonnen werden.

Kursort ist dabei am 05.05.2017 für den Theorieteil das Klinikum rechts der Isar sowie am 06.05.2017 für den Kadaver-Workshop die Anatomische Anstalt der LMU. Die Teilnehmerzahl ist für den Präparate-Workshop mit 30 Teilnehmern bewusst begrenzt gewählt. Für unseren anatomischen Präparate-Workshop sind max. 3 Kursteilnehmer pro Arbeitsplatz vorgesehen, so können die OP-Techniken rund um das Schultergelenk über offene und minimalinvasive Operationsverfahren und endoprothetische Versorgungstechniken, wie auch neue Industrieentwicklungen auf dem Markt im direkten Kontakt erprobt und diskutiert werden.

The ARTOF Instructional Course in Rio de Janeiro was all around external fixation.
